Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress that works in the fields of film, television and theatre. She's best known as Teri Joe, a fiery lawyer on the Showtime series Soul Food. Following her wedding, she was Nikki Kodjoe. Her talent for acting was evident since childhood. An Maryland high-school competition awarded her the top actress prize. After her experience in the theatre and with "The Washington Ballet Company" and "The Washington Ballet Company", she earned an acting certificate from New York University. The first role she played on screen in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was a success and earned the most appreciation. Contractor is a Mumbai-born Indian, who lived in Nigeria from the time she was seven years old, had a lot of knowledge about different cultures around the world and was able to travel even at a very young age. She was a boarding student in London between the ages of seven and nine years old, then her family relocated towards Toronto, Canada, where she lived the bulk of her childhood and young adulthood. Contractor trained in classical ballet in Toronto. Additionally, she excelled academically. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts. It's a high school that teaches arts where she did not only learn about theater, but also dance as well. Contractor decided to take acting more seriously at the age of 16 following almost 10 year of dance. When she completed her high school education, she was awarded an entire scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed an MA in Theatre, and she also double-majored in Psychology and Sociology. Contractor was a participant in the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After a full year, she was given the lead part. She received rave reviews for her performances on the stage in 92 productions. this play, which was named the production of the year by Canadian reviewers in 2002. Contractor was given the chance to join Stratford's conservatory course, in which the top eight men as well as four women can be accepted for a course lasting 20 weeks in classical theatre, which she eagerly took. The role was secured for Contractor in the next play, and she landed Hermia's character in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
